In 2017, Mario was given the opportunity to start working at Metaal Recycling Rijnmond (a metal recycling organisation). The first 6 months his travel expenses were reimbursed thanks to a Power Certificate of Werkgeversvereniging Banken (Employers' Association Banks). This certainly helped him with the first step to a paid job. After it became clear that there was a click between Mario and his employer and he was trained properly, Mario received a contract not just for 24 hours but for 32 hours a week.
Mario has been working there for over 2.5 years and he is still very happy. Where he used to have the mentality; I don't like it so I throw in the towel, now he will not be put off anymore. The pleasant workplace and the relationship with his supervisor have certainly contributed to this.
During the first period, Mario was mainly involved in dismantling and sorting boilers. Now he starts the day by loading and unloading the bus and then going to Brabant and Limburg as a co-driver. Being on the road everyday makes Mario very happy, and made him interested to grow into a driver within the company.
Thanks to the Power Certificate of Isbank, Mario can get his driver's license. This will be of great value to Mario, not only for receiving a permanent contract from January 2021 but also for getting more responsibility in his job. It shows what a little help for career advancement could mean.
