The story of Fadi

Fadi fled Syria to the Netherlands nearly three years ago. Back home, he was studying psychology, but because of the war he was unable to complete his degree. Once in the Netherlands, Fadi dedicated himself fully to building a new life. He worked hard and invested a great deal of time in learning Dutch.

His ultimate goal was to continue his education here. For a long time, he hesitated between studying Social Work, which would allow him to help others, and training as a chef, which would let him pursue his passion for cooking. In the end, he chose the culinary path with confidence and determination.

Fadi began a BBL apprenticeship program to become an independent professional chef (Level 3). At the same time, he started working as a trainee chef at a restaurant in Rotterdam, where he can immediately put what he learns into practice. He works 32 hours a week and learns something new every day. He goes to work with enthusiasm and dedication, and cooking gives him energy, purpose, and joy.

To better balance his job and his education, a reliable bicycle would make a huge difference for Fadi. It would allow him to travel independently to work and school without having to rely on public transportation.
